MN Responds
Are you a licensed healthcare person who is willing to help your community in an emergency?
Medical volunteers may be needed at the hospital or care center during public health emergencies such as infectious disease outbreaks. We are asking that all people interested in volunteering register with Minnesota Responds, a national initiative to coordinate and mobilize volunteers during an emergency. Pre-registering volunteers is critical and MN Responds provides the structure to do this.
Register now.
For a paper copy registration form contact the MN Responds local administrator, Jim Wiinanen at 387-3059.
Volunteer Opportunities at the Care Center
North Shore Care Center has a strong Volunteer Program with over 70 active volunteers sharing their time and talents with residents. Volunteers can choose to work an hour a week or an hour a month.
Volunteers assist residents and staff in many ways with crafts, baking, gardening, exercise groups, sing-a-longs, games, music, dances, and outings in the community. Some volunteers prefer one on one time with residents to read, play cards, do a puzzle or a computer project.
Volunteer opportunities are available for all ages. Please contact the Activity Dept. 218- 387-3518 or email: mrosenthal@sisunet.org
Specific needs:
Wednesday afternoons for computer work
Thursday at 2 pm for Bingo
Any day of the week to feed the birds in our aviary
The Care Center is a Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) site. Currently 20 RSVP volunteers work at the Care Center monthly. For more information about RSVP, contact Deade Johnson 218-834-2280 or email: djohnson@aeoa.org
